Making Adjectives Work in Comparisons

We have spent a lot of time recently learning about adjectives and how we can use them to improve our writing. Last week we started to look at how we could make comparisons by using Similes. As we move towards using Similes in our writing we have been practising linking our senses to help make comparisons.

SUMMER
Summer feels like a giant fireball burning me
Summer looks like fat sizzling sausages on the barbecue
Summer smells like chicken frying on a pan
Summer sounds like birds flying across theky
Summer tastes like hot sausages

SUMMER
Summer looks like full water.
Summer smells like barbecue on the run.
Summer tastes like lamb on the barbecue.
Summer feels like you are melting.
Summer sounds like splashing waves.
