‘My Countries’ Homework Challenge.
Term 3

This is to support our Inquiry Learning of Global World this term and Room 11 are trying to get around all of the countries of the world in 8 weeks! I explained to the children how it all works and this went home with them at the end of last week and I know that many of the children have already done at least 1 of their countries and many have done a few more!

So, I thought I would take this opportunity to explain the Challenge to you all so you can support your ‘world-wide travelers’ at home! Helping the children with their research and discussing what you know about their ‘country of the week’ at home will be great for their oral language and Global knowledge. Maybe you could even try cooking a meal from that country!??

Each child has been given 7 (or 8) different countries in the back of their Home Learning book. EACH WEEK they are expected to:
Find the correct location of one country on the map (glued inside their Home Learning book)
Research that one country, then find and record at least two facts about that country in their Home Learning book.

But - they can find as many facts as they want! … fill the page if they like!
I would rather that the children learnt more about their one country each week than race ahead and write only two facts about all of their countries in one go.

It’s about Quality not Quantity! It is definitely not a race :)
