Being a passionate educator and literacy specialist, Mr Bernay brought in a range of books to share and support us with our Turangawaewae Inquiry.
After reading a couple of stories, the children got involved in a small group activity and recorded ideas together. All the groups then took turns in presenting their ideas to the class. It was awesome to see everyone sharing their learning.
In return, we had the opportunity to show Mr Bernay our 'Mindful movements' which we practice in class (The children can show you these) and we were also able to introduce Austen the penguin. Some of the children shared Austen's home adventures with Mr Bernay which he really enjoyed because penguins are his favourite animal!!
We all had a great time and learnt lots from each other. We look forward to welcoming Mr Bernay back again sometime to share some more of our learning.

Thank you so much, Room 11 for a very enjoyable day. Sorry it has taken me so long to post a comment. I have been reading your poems and am very impressed. The Autumn poems make me want to sit down with a good book by the fireplace and a delicious hot chocolate. Keep reading what you like to read and then you will be surprised how much easier it is to do all the writing that Miss O keeps asking you to do. Be nice to each other and I hope to see you soon. Dr. Ross
